Dabur Expects Sequential Improvement in Demand Going Forward

6 months ago Indian Markets 2 Mins Read

Dabur India, a leading fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company, has announced that it anticipates a sequential improvement in demand in the coming months. This positive outlook is based on several factors, including a revival in rural demand, a normal monsoon forecast, and the government’s continued focus on macroeconomic growth.

The company expects its domestic business to achieve mid-single-digit volume growth in the first quarter of fiscal year 2025. Dabur’s consolidated revenue is projected to grow in the mid-to-high single-digit range during the same period.

This growth is expected to be driven by strong performance in the home and personal care (HPC) and healthcare segments, which are anticipated to achieve high-single-digit growth. However, the beverage segment may face challenges due to reduced travel and out-of-home consumption caused by the intense summer heat.

Dabur’s international business is also expected to deliver strong growth in constant currency terms, although currency depreciation in Turkey and Egypt may impact translated growth.

Key Insights:

  • Rural Revival: The anticipated improvement in rural demand is a significant positive for Dabur, as it generates a substantial portion of its revenue from rural markets.
  • Monsoon and Macroeconomic Factors: A normal monsoon and supportive government policies are expected to boost consumer sentiment and drive demand for FMCG products.
  • Segmental Performance: The strong growth outlook for the HPC and healthcare segments highlights Dabur’s strength in these key categories.
  • International Business: While currency headwinds may persist, the underlying strength of Dabur’s international business remains intact.

Investment Implications:

  • Positive Outlook: Dabur’s positive demand outlook suggests that the company is well-positioned to deliver healthy growth in the coming quarters.
  • Growth Drivers: Investors should monitor the performance of Dabur’s key growth drivers, including rural demand, the HPC and healthcare segments, and international business.
  • Risks: Potential risks to Dabur’s growth include a weaker-than-expected monsoon, a slowdown in economic growth, and continued currency volatility in international markets.
  • Valuation: Investors should assess Dabur’s valuation relative to its peers and historical averages to determine whether the stock offers an attractive entry point.
