5 months ago Indian Markets 2 Mins Read

Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has launched its new VIDA V2 electric scooter range, aiming to capture a larger share of the growing EV market. The V2 series includes three models: Pro, Plus, and Lite. Notably, the V2 Lite is priced below ₹1 lakh, making it one of the most affordable electric scooters in India. This aggressive pricing strategy positions Hero MotoCorp to compete directly with established players like Ola Electric and Ather Energy, as well as emerging brands.

The V2 series boasts improved features and specifications compared to its predecessor, the V1. While detailed specifications vary across the models, the range includes:

  • Enhanced range: Up to 143 km on a single charge.
  • Improved top speed: Reaching up to 90 kmph.
  • Advanced features: Including a 7-inch TFT display, LED illumination, keyless operation, and multiple riding modes.

With this launch, Hero MotoCorp is making a strong push into the mass-market electric scooter segment, leveraging its brand reputation and extensive dealer network.

Key Insights:

  • Focus: Expanding the reach of electric vehicles (EVs) in India by offering a more affordable option.
  • Key Event: Launch of the VIDA V2 electric scooter series with a sub ₹1 lakh price point.
  • Potential Impact:
    • Increased competition in the Indian EV two-wheeler market.
    • Potential boost for Hero MotoCorp’s market share in the EV segment.
    • Acceleration of EV adoption in India, particularly among price-conscious buyers.

Investment Implications:

  • This launch is a positive development for Hero MotoCorp, signaling its commitment to the EV transition and its potential to gain market share. Investors may consider this a positive signal.
